I’m a freelance illustrator and interactive designer living and working near Pittsburgh, PA. I create bright, colorful characters and designs for all kinds of media outlets. Above all else, I want the things I make to educate and connect with kids. I believe that any learning experience can be made better if the right visual tools are used – and my mission is to create them.

When I’m not locked away in my studio, I usually run off to explore the woods and wildlife of Western PA. Mostly I like to scan streams and creeks looking for whatever crawlies are living under the rocks. Nature is one of my biggest inspirations, so most of these outings end up in my artwork in one way or another.

What software do you use?

I primarily rely on Adobe Creative Cloud for my production, and my workflow consists of Photoshop, AfterEffects, Animate CC (Formerly Flash) and InDesign.  I'm usually running multiple programs at the same time and working back and forth between them continuously on a project. I also use Maya for for packaging design mock-ups.

How much does (specific job) cost?

If you have a specific project in mind and you need an illustrator/designer, please send me an email!  For a bit of guidance on what details to include, you can refer to my contact form here.  A lot of factors go into deciding a quote, from the timeline to the breadth of scope.  The more specific details I have about your project, the more specific I can be in my quote!

How do you determine pricing?

My prices are decided based on a wide range of factors, and a lot of things can change the cost of a large project. I develop a quote around a combination of my hourly rate, the skills required for the job, and the usage rights requested my the client. Other factors such as the timeline the project needs to be completed are also taken into account.

What are your inspirations for your work?

I'm inspired by lots of different media sources; movies, nature, video and board games, children's books... I'm always looking for new artwork to be inspired by!  To name a few of my favorites who have had a profound impact on my work -- Dr. Seuss, Jim Henson, teams behind bright, colorful games like Banjo Kazooie and Psychonauts, and animated movies from Laika and Dreamworks.
